What Causes Dark Circles?

Despite what most people think , dark under eye circles are not primarily caused by stress, or late nights. Rather, dark circles are caused by capillaries that leak blood close to the skin's surface. When this blood begins to oxidise (Hemoglobin Degradation), it turns a bluish red colour, something like a bruise. Since the skin around the eyes is thin, this leads to the appearance of dark circles.

Puffy eyes are due to fluid build-up caused by poor drainage, fragile capillaries and loss of elasticity. Fluid leaks into surrounding tissues and produces the eye bags.
